Supreme Court Dismisses NUJS Professor’s POSH Case Against Vice-Chancellor

The Supreme Court has dismissed a POSH Act complaint filed by a NUJS faculty member against the Vice-Chancellor, citing a lack of evidence and procedural irregularities.

The court noted that the allegations of sexual harassment were unsubstantiated and emphasised the need for credible proof in such sensitive matters.

The court underscores the importance of due process in POSH cases to prevent misuse of legal provisions.

While upholding the rejection of the complaint, the Court made an unusual direction, stating that although the claim was time-barred, the allegations would remain part of the Vice-Chancellor’s professional record, ensuring a measure of accountability despite dismissal of the appeal.
