The Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal, including its three-language formula, stating that it cannot compel states to adopt the policy.
The Court held that intervention is only possible if a policy’s non-implementation violates fundamental rights under Article 32 of the Constitution or any other legal rights.
The petitioner, originally from Tamil Nadu but residing in Delhi, was found to have no direct cause to file the plea.
The Court also rejected claims that opposition to the NEP was unconstitutional, concluding that the petition was without merit and stood dismissed.
