Supreme Court Closes Plea Against ‘Ghoskhor Pandat’ After Director Agrees to Change Title

The Supreme Court on Thursday brought the controversy over the upcoming Netflix film Ghooskhor Pandat to an end after the producer agreed to change its title following objections from members of the Brahmin community.

A Bench of B.V. Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan recorded the producer’s affidavit stating that the title would be withdrawn and replaced with a new name. The Court observed that the writ petition required no further consideration and disposed of the matter.

Senior Advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul submitted that there was no intention to defame any community, explaining that the phrase was merely the fictional protagonist’s nickname in a crime drama.

The Bench expressed hope that all related civil and criminal proceedings would now reach closure.
