The Supreme Court has stressed the need for devising a system for evaluating the performance of judges of the High Courts.
The Court observed that frequent adjournments and delays erode public trust in the judicial process.
Furthermore, the Court reiterated the need to issue broad guidelines to remind judges of their responsibilities. It was also noted that granting adjournments too often could damage the reliability of the judicial system and faith in justice.
The remarks came while hearing a case where the Jharkhand High Court had failed to deliver a judgment for over two years in the criminal appeal of three life convicts.
