The Supreme Court took note of an affidavit filed by Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, alleging that she was placed under surveillance by the Intelligence Bureau and Rajasthan Police during her visits to Jodhpur Central Jail.
She claimed that on October 7 and 11, police followed her to the jail in a covered vehicle and allegedly monitored her meetings with Wangchuk, violating her rights under Articles 19 and 21 of the Indian Constitution.
A Bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and N.V. Anjaria noted that the allegations warrant further scrutiny and directed that they be examined in detail.
