Supreme Court Grants Bail to Bikram Majithia in Disproportionate Assets Case

The Supreme Court granted bail to Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a disproportionate assets case, noting that he has been in custody for seven months and that the charge sheet has already been filed.

The Court set aside the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s order denying bail and observed that continued custody was not required at this stage.

It clarified that the trial court may impose appropriate conditions while granting bail, including travel restrictions if deemed necessary.

The case stems from a vigilance bureau probe linked to an earlier drugs case, following which a fresh FIR was registered alleging possession of disproportionate assets.
