Supreme Court Launches Virtual Mediation Rooms With Child Friendly Facilities

CJI Sanjiv Khanna, on his last working day, inaugurated a modern mediation facility at the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee premises, featuring virtual access and a dedicated children’s room.

This initiative aims to enhance accessible, tech-driven dispute resolution, especially for remote or mobility-challenged parties. Aligned with the Mediation Act, 2023, the facility supports pre-litigation and court-annexed mediation to ease court caseloads.

The virtual setup allows flexible participation, while the children’s space ensures a safe environment for minors involved in family disputes.

This step is part of the judiciary’s larger push to reduce case backlogs and improve timely access to justice through digital solutions.
