The Supreme Court has modified its August 11 order on stray dogs in Delhi-NCR.
A bench led by Justice Vikram Nath directed that dogs must be released back to their localities after sterilisation, deworming, and immunisation, except rabid or aggressive dogs, who cannot be returned.
The Court barred public feeding of strays, ordering Municipal bodies to set up designated feeding zones with proper notices, helplines, and ward-level feeding spaces.
Expanding the scope nationwide, the Court impleaded all states, UTs, and animal husbandry departments, while transferring pending High Court cases to itself to frame a uniform stray dog policy.
