Supreme Court Orders CBI Probe into 2021 Murder of Telangana Lawyer Couple

The Supreme Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into the 2021 daylight murder of Telangana lawyer couple Gattu Vaman Rao and PV Nagamani in Peddapalli district.

The court acted on a petition by Rao’s father, who challenged the state police’s closure of the case despite a video-recorded dying declaration naming individuals omitted from the chargesheet. Forensic analysis confirmed the video’s authenticity.

While directing the CBI to file a final report, the court granted temporary protection to the current accused but allowed arrests of others if implicated during the investigation.
