Supreme Court Orders High Courts to Implement Judicial Pay Commission Recommendations

The Supreme Court has ordered all High Courts to form Committees for Service Conditions of the District Judiciary (CSCDJs) within four weeks to implement the recommendations of the Second National Judicial Pay Commission (SNJPC).

This follows a January 4, 2024, order to ensure the effective implementation of pay, pension, and service condition reforms for district judicial officers.

The committees will be headed by two High Court judges, with a retired District Judge serving as the Nodal Officer who will visit other benches to address grievances.

High Courts were directed to provide office space for these officers, and the State governments will bear travel expenses.

Regular meetings must be held every three months to resolve issues.
