The Supreme Court has expanded a student’s grievance against Amity University into a countrywide scrutiny of private, and deemed universities.
The Court has directed the Centre, all States/UTs, and the UGC to file personally affirmed affidavits covering legal origins, land grants, governance, finances, admissions, faculty recruitment, and grievance systems.
It will also examine the long-claimed “no-profit, no-loss” model and the UGC’s enforcement mechanisms.
This marks an unprecedented transparency exercise in India’s higher education sector.
