Supreme Court orders Registry to ensure Synopsis to shorten 128 pages

  • Case Name: Deepti Sharma v. State of Uttar Pradesh & Anr
  • Judge(s): Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Ahsanuddin Amanullah

The appellant, a non-lawyer appeared in person, submitted a 128- pages synopsis in the Supreme Court, which was remarked as overloaded and noted that the Registry should have asked the litigant to shorten it.

The appellant, who got married in 2006 and successfully obtained a divorce on the ground of cruelty in 2016, approached the apex court, challenging the Allahabad HC's order by a division bench of December 20, 2019, noted, in December 2019, the Allahabad HC reinstated the appellant’s petition under Section 125 CrPC and instructed the Family Court to adjudicate it as per the law.

Finding no grounds to interfere, the bench remarked, “The order benefits the appellant and merely directs the Family Court to decide the matter on its merits.” Consequently, the appeal was dismissed.
