The Supreme Court ordered the immediate release of an accused after finding that Jharkhand Police registered successive FIRs to defeat an earlier bail order.
The case arose from multiple FIRs filed in 2025 over alleged corruption and land mutation irregularities dating back to 2010.
The Court observed that fresh FIRs and remand orders were issued even as bail was being considered, and said this showed a conscious attempt to keep the accused in custody.
It held that Article 32 can be invoked where fundamental rights are prima facie violated and granted bail in the subsequent FIRs.
