
The Supreme Court permitted all victims of dog bites to intervene in the ongoing suo motu Stray Dogs case without making any monetary deposit.
The direction followed submissions by the Solicitor General that victims should also have a say in the matter. The Court further allowed the Animal Welfare Board of India to be impleaded as a respondent.
Earlier, the Court had required individuals and NGOs supporting stray dogs to deposit ₹25,000 and ₹2 lakh, respectively, with the Registry as a precondition for intervention.
