Supreme Court Proposes Standard Procedure To Safeguard Citizens’ Right To Trauma Care

The Supreme Court has proposed framing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure the protection of citizens’ right to trauma care.

A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi requested Attorney General R Venkataramani to examine the stands of different States and Union Territories, and submit a report after consulting the petitioners.

The Court observed that the matter raises issues of equal opportunity and personal liberty, and a uniform SOP would benefit citizens nationwide.

Further directions will be issued after receiving the Attorney General’s report. The matter has been listed after six months.
