The Supreme Court held that every person had the right to appeal against the exclusion of their name from the recently prepared voters' list for the Special Intensive Revision in Bihar.
The Court considered the petitioner’s argument that while 21 lakh voters were added to the final list, around 65 lakh names had been removed from the draft, raising doubts about whether those excluded were re-added.
The Election Commission’s counsel claimed the additions were new voters, but the Court directed it to provide evidence supporting the claim.
Earlier, the Court had ruled that Aadhaar cards could serve as valid identification for voter registration.
