Supreme Court Questions UP Govt’s Role in Banke Bihari Temple Case

The Supreme Court has questioned the Uttar Pradesh government's role in a private dispute over the management of the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan.

A bench led by Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma warned that state interference in private matters could lead to a breakdown of the rule of law.

The court heard a plea by devotee Devendra Nath Goswami seeking to recall a May 15 order allowing temple funds for a redevelopment project.

The bench emphasized that the state was not a party to the original litigation and should not intervene.
