Supreme Court Recalls Order Blacklisting Three Academics Over Controversial NCERT Textbook Chapter

Supreme Court recalled its previous order that blacklisted three academics from participating in educational projects across Central, State, and public universities.

The initial punitive action was taken over an NCERT Class 8 textbook chapter addressing judicial corruption, which the Court had previously flagged as a deliberate attempt to project a negative image of the Indian judiciary.

The bench expunged those adverse observations after the academics explained that the text resulted from a collective, institutional drafting process without individual malice.

The apex Court clarified that the Union and State governments retain independent authority to decide whether to associate with these experts for future academic initiatives.
