The Supreme Court of India directed that Teesta Setalvad’s plea seeking release of her passport be heard by a three-judge bench.
The Court noted that her original bail order in 2023 was also passed by a bench of the same strength, making it appropriate for a similar bench to consider any modification of bail conditions.
As part of her bail, her passport remains deposited with the Sessions Court, restricting foreign travel.
The plea now seeks relaxation of this condition, with the Court set to examine whether the restriction should continue.
