Supreme Court Refuses to Entertain Asian Paints’ Plea Against CCI Probe

The Supreme Court refused to entertain Asian Paints’ plea challenging the Competition Commission of India’s investigation into allegations of abuse of dominance in the decorative paints market.

Asian Paints had contested a Bombay High Court order that upheld the CCI’s direction to investigate a complaint filed by Grasim Industries (Birla Opus Paints).

The company sought to withdraw the appeal, leading the Court to dismiss the matter as withdrawn.

The probe focuses on alleged violations of Sections 4(2)(a)(i), 4(2)(c) and 4(2)(d) of the Competition Act, including claims of dealer coercion and discount manipulation to restrict competition.
