Supreme Court Refuses to Stay Charges Framing in Land-for-Jobs Case Against Lalu Prasad Yadav

The Supreme Court refused to defer framing of charges in the land for jobs case against Lalu Prasad Yadav, stating it would remain subject to the Delhi High Court’s decision on his pending quash petition.

Yadav had sought postponement until August 12, arguing that the CBI lacked prior sanction under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Court clarified that trial court proceedings won’t affect the High Court case.

The CBI had chargesheeted 16 people in October 2022, including Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Misa Bharti.
