Supreme Court Restores Criminal Case Against MLA for Allegedly Using Fake Caste Certificate

The Supreme Court has revived criminal proceedings against MLA Rajendra Singh for allegedly using a fraudulent Scheduled Caste certificate to contest the 2008 Guna (SC) Assembly elections.

The Court set aside a High Court order that had quashed the 2014 case, further directing the trial court to complete the trial within one year.

The Court observed that allegations of fraudulent caste claims to secure electoral benefits are serious and must be examined through a proper trial rather than being dismissed at the threshold.
