Supreme Court Rejects CCI's Request for Case Transfer in Amazon-Flipkart Probe

Competition Commission of India (CCI) is investigating Amazon and Flipkart for potential violations of the Competition Act, 2002, following anti-competitive practices based on complaints from Delhi Vyapar Mahasangh. Multiple high courts have stayed the investigation, with 12 petitions pending in the Karnataka High Court.

CCI sought to transfer the cases from various high courts to the Supreme Court or Delhi High Court to speed up the process.

The Attorney General argued the case impacts millions of consumers, while e-retailers accused CCI of forum shopping and bypassing procedures.

The Supreme Court denied CCI’s request, suggesting the Karnataka High Court continue hearing the case, where it is nearly concluded.
