The Supreme Court dismissed Christian Michel’s plea challenging the Delhi High Court’s condition requiring him to furnish a local residential address to secure bail.
The bench, led by Justices Vikram Nath and Sanjay Kumar, criticised Michel for not complying with the condition despite being granted bail. As a result, he remains in custody. The Enforcement Directorate supported the requirement, arguing it is necessary for effective monitoring.
Michel, a British national, was extradited from the UAE in 2018. He is accused of receiving €30 million in kickbacks in the 2010 AgustaWestland VVIP helicopter deal. The Court said the condition was neither unreasonable nor excessive.
