The Supreme Court of India refused to remove Mepung Tadar Bage, member of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), under Article 317(1) of the Constitution, stating none of the charges related to the 2022 Assistant Engineer (Civil) paper leak case against her were proven.
The Court emphasised that removal for "misbehaviour" must be based on individual conduct and direct evidence, not collective institutional failures. Bage was found not responsible for the irregularities, as the inquiry showed no overt act of misbehaviour by her.
Her suspension was revoked, and she was ordered restored with all benefits.
