The Supreme Court has taken up a Suo motu review of the Allahabad High Court's decision and has stayed the controversial order.
The High Court had ruled that grabbing a woman's breasts or pulling the string of her pyjama is sexual assault, not an attempt to rape.
The Supreme Court observed that the order lacked sensitivity and was not a spur-of-the-moment decision.
Earlier, on March 24, the Supreme Court had declined to entertain a PIL challenging the same judgment.
