Supreme Court Sets Up Panel to Ensure Equal Opportunities and Protection for Transgender Community

The Supreme Court has formed a committee to promote equal workplace opportunities, inclusive healthcare access, and protection for gender non-conforming persons within the transgender community.

The panel will be chaired by retired Justice Asha Menon and includes activists Grace Banu and Akai Padmashali, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Vyjayanthi Vasanta Mogli, Gaurav Mandal, Nithya Rajshekhar, and amicus Senior Advocate Jayna Kothari.

The Court constituted the committee while hearing the case of Jane Kaushik, a transwoman whose appointment as a teacher was terminated due to her gender identity.
