The Supreme Court has directed the Centre not to release Short Service Commission (SSC) women Army officers who are contesting the denial of permanent commission.
Amid escalating tensions following “Operation Sindoor,” the Court emphasized the importance of maintaining high morale in the armed forces and noted that the officers’ services should be continued, as their capabilities are not in question.
Dismissing concerns over the Army’s hierarchical structure, the Court highlighted the need for a balance of youth and experience in military leadership.
The case will be heard on its merits in the next session scheduled for July 15, 2025.
