Supreme Court Takes Cognisance of Andhra High Court Judge Incident After SCBA Push

The Supreme Court took cognisance of the recent Andhra Pradesh High Court courtroom incident involving a young lawyer allegedly threatened with judicial custody during proceedings.

The matter was initiated on the judicial side after the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) passed a resolution urging the Chief Justice of India to intervene.

The controversy arose after videos of the incident involving Justice Tarlada Rajasekhar Rao went viral, triggering strong reactions from lawyers’ bodies across the country.

The Bar Council of India and several young lawyers had also criticised the episode, raising concerns about judicial temperament, proportionality, and the treatment of junior advocates in courtrooms.
