Supreme Court Takes Suo Motu Cognizance of Brutal Sword Attack on Delhi Woman Advocate

The Supreme Court has taken suo motu cognizance of a brutal sword attack and stabbing of a 38-year-old woman advocate by her husband in Delhi.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi directed the Delhi Police Commissioner to transfer the probe to a senior officer, preferably a female ACP or DCP.

The Apex Court expressed deep concern over reports that three hospitals denied the critically injured victim emergency admission before she reached AIIMS.

It ordered an inquiry into the medical negligence, mandated tracking the victim’s missing minor children, and ordered NALSA to release an interim financial aid of ₹3 lakh.
