Supreme Court to Frame Standard for Public Hearings by Electricity Regulatory Commissions

The Supreme Court declared that it would frame uniform standards for conducting public hearings by Electricity Regulatory Commissions nationwide.

A Division Bench observed while hearing an appeal by the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission against the High Court’s direction to hold hybrid hearings instead of only online ones while reviewing Renewable Energy Regulations.

The Court issued notice in the matter, directed inclusion of the Forum of Regulators constituted under Section 166(2) of the Electricity Act, 2003 as a party, and appointed an amicus curiae to assist.
