A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) new policy mandating a three-language formula for Class 9 students.
Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued that forcing students to suddenly study two additional languages would disrupt their Class 10 board exam preparation and cause widespread chaos.
The new framework, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) to promote multilingualism, expands the traditional two-language system by requiring an additional language component.
Acknowledging the urgency and potential burden on students, the apex Court directed the matter to be listed for a formal hearing next week.
