UK-based Lifestyle Equities CV has approached the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court Division Bench order staying a ₹340 crore ($39 million) damages award against Amazon Technologies for alleged trademark infringement of the Beverly Hills Polo Club (BHPC) mark.
The case stems from a 2020 complaint claiming Amazon’s private label “Symbol” used logos deceptively similar to BHPC.
A single judge had awarded substantial damages, but the Division Bench stayed enforcement due to improper service of summons and absence of amended pleadings justifying the enhanced damages. The Supreme Court will hear the matter on July 28.
