The Supreme Court will hear an appeal challenging the Karnataka High Court's decision to quash criminal proceedings against two men accused of shouting "Jai Shri Ram" inside the Badriya Jumma Masjid.
The men were booked under IPC Sections 295A (outraging religious feelings), 447 (trespass), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The High Court ruled that for an offence under Section 295A, the act must deliberately disrupt public order or peace.
The case was dismissed on September 13, 2024, and the complainant has appealed the verdict. The Supreme Court will hear the appeal on December 16, 2024.
