The Supreme Court has emphasized the supremacy of the Constitution over claims of Parliamentary supremacy, reinforcing the judiciary's role in upholding constitutional values.
The Court reminded that judicial review, conferred by Articles 32 and 226, ensures that statutes are tested for their constitutionality.
This response came after Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s remarks criticizing judicial interventions. The Court also condemned BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s comments attacking the judiciary but refrained from taking action, stating that such remarks would not shake public confidence in the judiciary.
The next hearing for the case is scheduled for May 20.
