Supreme Court Warns Youth Against Drug Use

Ankush Kapoor faces charges under various Sections of the NDPS Act and UAPA for allegedly smuggling 500 kg of heroin from Pakistan into India as part of a drug trafficking operation.

On December 16, 2024, the Supreme Court upheld the High Court's decision to cancel his bail, stating the need for custodial interrogation to reveal more about the drug network. 

The Court raised concerns over rising drug abuse among youth, warning against the normalization of drugs as "cool."

Additionally, the Court directed NALSA to implement coordinated measures to combat the growing menace of drug trafficking and addiction.
