Delhi High Court Grants Yasin Malik Time to Respond to National Investigation Agency Death Penalty Appeal

The Delhi High Court has given Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik four weeks to respond to the National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) plea seeking the death penalty in a terror funding case.

The bench of Justices Vivek Chaudhary and Shalinder Kaur listed the matter for November 10.

Malik, serving a life sentence since May 2022 after pleading guilty, was directed to appear virtually due to security concerns but was absent today.

The trial court had earlier rejected the death penalty, holding the case was not among the “rarest of rare,” and dismissed Malik’s claim of leading a Gandhian non-violent movement.
