Rajasthan High Court granted interim bail to Asaram Bapu in the rape case from 2013

Asaram Bapu, an 86-year-old self-proclaimed spiritual leader, has been granted temporary bail by the Rajasthan High Court in a rape case from 2013.

This comes after the Supreme Court allowed him medical bail in a separate rape case just last week, which is valid until March 31, 2025.

Asaram, who received a life sentence in 2018 for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at his ashram, will be released until March 31, 2025.

Conditions of his release include prohibitions on meeting with followers, engaging with the media, and the requirement of three guards, the costs of which he must cover. He is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Jodhpur.
