TRAI has amended the TCCCPR, 2018, introducing stricter rules to curb Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC).
Key changes include a more straightforward spam complaint process, mandatory opt-out options in promotional messages, precise sender classification (-P, -S, -T, -G), and restrictions on auto-dialers and robocalls.
Violators face service suspension, blacklisting, and heavy fines. The use of 10-digit numbers for telemarketing is banned.
Telecom operators must implement real-time spam detection and biometric sender verification.
The regulations take effect within 30–60 days, aiming to create a secure, transparent, and spam-free telecom ecosystem for consumers.
