A 28-year-old transgender man has approached the Kerala High Court after KIMS Hospital, Trivandrum, denied permission to freeze and store his eggs, citing his self-perceived gender identity.
The petitioner, assigned female at birth, underwent breast removal surgery in 2023 but has not completed sex reassignment. He seeks to preserve his eggs before the procedure.
In his writ petition, the petitioner submitted that transgender men can also experience pregnancy.
He argues the denial violates reproductive rights under Article 21 and the Transgender Persons Protection Act, of 2019.
The court will consider the case on February 18, 2025.
