Umar Khalid Moves Supreme Court Seeking Review of Bail Denial, Requests Open Court Hearing

Umar Khalid has filed a review petition before the Supreme Court of India challenging its January 2026 order denying him bail in the Delhi riots conspiracy case.

His counsel has also sought an open court hearing, instead of the usual in-chamber review process.

The earlier order had found a prima facie case under UAPA, observing his alleged “central role” in the conspiracy.

The review plea is now listed for consideration, with the Court indicating it may decide whether an open hearing is warranted.
