Union Government Notifies Appointment of Three New Supreme Court Judges

The Union government has officially notified the appointment of Justices N.V. Anjaria, Vijay Bishnoi, and A.S. Chandurkar as judges of the Supreme Court of India.

This notification follows the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation on May 26, 2025, and the President’s assent.

Justice Anjaria is the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Bishnoi is the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, and Justice Chandurkar is a judge at the Bombay High Court. 

They are expected to take oath on May 30, 2025, before Justice Bhushan R Gavai. With their elevation, the Supreme Court’s strength will rise to 34 judges, restoring its full sanctioned capacity.
