The US Congress passed President Trump’s $4.5 trillion “Big Beautiful Bill,” making a major second-term victory with permanent tax cuts and increased funding for border security, defence, and energy.
The House approved the bill 218–214 after the Senate passed it 51–50, with Vice President JD Vance breaking the tie.
The legislation makes Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent, allocates $350 billion for border and national security, and enacts significant cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs.
Despite clearing the House, the bill could face political consequences. The rifts within the Republican Party are increased, while Democrats unanimously opposed the bill.
