A US Federal Court dismissed a complaint filed by Dragon Lawyers PC, citing a cartoon dragon watermark logo on every page.
Magistrate Judge Ray Kent of the Western District of Michigan ruled that the dragon image was “juvenile and impertinent,” invoking Rule 12(f) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
The Court deemed the graphic “distracting” and instructed the plaintiff to refile the complaint without “cartoon or inappropriate content” by May 5, 2025.
The ruling reiterates that court submissions must maintain formal legal decorum, and any immaterial or scandalous matter is liable to be struck off in its entirety.
