Supreme Court Registrar Requests VIP Car Number for Former CJI DY Chandrachud’s New Mercedes

A Supreme Court registrar has sent a formal request to the Delhi Transport Commissioner, asking for a specific VIP registration number to be allotted to former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud’s new Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

The letter, dated July 28, also asks for the process to be completed swiftly and for updates on the allotment. Chandrachud retired on November 10, 2024, after serving nearly two years as CJI.

The request has sparked public interest, reflecting the continued prominence of India’s former top judge even after his tenure.
