WBNUJS Students Demand Resignation of Vice-Chancellor Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti

Students of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, staged a nearly 20-hour protest demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nirmal Kanti Chakrabarti.

The protest followed the General Council’s failure to act on the Student Juridical Association’s formal request for his removal. Students cited multiple reasons, including the university’s loss of reputation, unsafe environment for female students, financial mismanagement, and lack of administrative transparency.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had dismissed a sexual harassment complaint filed against the Vice-Chancellor by a faculty member under the PoSH Act.
