Calcutta High Court Cancels Judicial Officers’ Leave Over Electoral Roll Revision Work

Following directions of the Supreme Court of India regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court has cancelled all approved leaves of judicial officers until March 9, except in cases of medical emergency.

Officers currently on leave have been directed to resume duties immediately, and training programmes at the West Bengal Judicial Academy have been deferred.

The Supreme Court had urged deployment of serving and former district judges to address pending claims, citing a trust deficit between the State government and the Election Commission of India.

A High Court committee has been constituted to manage urgent matters by shifting them to alternative courts during this period.
