Wikipedia Withdraws Appeal Against ANI Defamation Case After Supreme Court Relief

The Wikipedia Foundation has withdrawn its appeal in the Delhi High Court against a prior order directing the removal of alleged defamatory edits on ANI’s Wikipedia page.

This move followed the Supreme Court’s recent verdict setting aside the High Court's earlier decisions, stating that the interim relief granted was vague and did not clarify who would decide if the content was defamatory.

ANI had claimed that Wikipedia allowed users to call it a "propaganda tool" for the government.

The dispute will now be reconsidered afresh by a single judge of the Delhi High Court.
