Mumbai Woman Awarded ₹29.4 Lakh Compensation for Bus Accident Injuries

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal(MACT) directed a travel company & an insurance company to pay Rs. 29.4 Lakh to a 50-year-old woman who was injured in a bus accident in South Mumbai.

The woman and her friends had hired a bus to celebrate New Year’s Eve but the driver lost control and crashed into a building’s gate. She sustained severe injuries and sought ₹54 lakh in compensation under the Motor Vehicles Act.

MACT assessed her permanent partial disability at 20% and held the travel company liable. The insurer can recover its share from the bus owner, as the driver lacked a valid license and the vehicle had no fitness certificate.
