X Corp drags Apple, OpenAI to US court over alleged AI collusion

X Corp and its AI subsidiary xAI have filed an antitrust lawsuit in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas against Apple and OpenAI.

The suit alleges collusion to monopolise both the smartphone and generative AI chatbot markets. According to the plaintiffs, Apple gave  OpenAI an unfair edge by integrating ChatGPT exclusively into iOS, sidelining competitors like xAI’s Grok.

They also accuse Apple of manipulating App Store rankings and delaying rival approvals. 

The lawsuit seeks injunctions against the alleged anti-competitive conduct and damages running into billions of dollars.
